On April 2nd, 2014, we welcomed the last snow of the season—one of only a few times we actually saw the white stuff this past winter. That was also the day we welcomed The Seekers, who came up from Tucson to stay in several of our cabins for the first time.
This inspirational senior hiking group was founded six years ago by Carole Adler and Ernie Cohen, when they and their new members had grown tired of trying to keep up with the faster hiking crowd in other outdoors clubs they’d belonged to. This fun, adventurous group hikes weekly in the Tucson area between October and April, culminating with an annual overnight trip, which this year brought them here to Flagstaff. Past overnights have taken The Seekers to places like Chiricahua National Monument, Aravaipa Canyon, and Silver City/Gila Cliff Dwellings.
This year, the early spring storm here in Northern Arizona didn’t slow the group down one bit, as they hiked in Red Rock State Park, Wupatki and Sunset Crater National Monuments, Walnut Canyon and Meteor Crater. The Seekers say they don’t always make it to all of their planned destinations, but they sure have fun trying!
And we sure enjoyed meeting them and hope to see them again. The view from Cabin 6 they liked so much, pictured here, will be waiting for them when they return.
