Flagstaff Cabins in the Woods

FAQ’s

What are your rates?

Rates are based upon the size of cabin, the number of people in your party and the time of year (i.e., summer, winter or holiday). A flat rate cabin means the rate will not decrease if the party size is less than the maximum occupancy. The maximum occupancy is observed for each flat rate cabin.

What is your reservation cancellation policy?

Our cancellation policy is based upon what type of reservation you make (e.g., holidays, large groups, etc.). Please review the following:

  • Cabin 16 and the Hogan = 14-day cancellation period
  • B&B reservations = 7-day cancellation period
  • One cabin reservation = 7-day cancellation period
  • Two cabin reservation = 14-day cancellation period
  • Three or more cabins reservation = 30-day cancellation period
  • Reservations 1 week or longer = 30-day cancellation period
  • Thanksgiving & Christmas reservations = 30-day cancellation period
  • Large groups of more than 50 people = 60-day cancellation period

Reservations cancelled prior to the cancellation period will receive a full refund. (A 3% fee may be applicable depending on payment type.)

If you should need to change or cancel your reservation within the cancellation period, full reimbursement is subject to re-rental of the cabin. A $50 cancellation fee (plus tax) is applicable. Cancellation fees will vary depending on the amount of the reservation. Reservations more than $3000 will have a 3% cancellation fee.

There are no refunds for early check-outs.

What type of weather can I expect in Flagstaff during the winter?

The City of Flagstaff is located at an elevation of 7,000 feet (about 2.13 km), with the nearby San Francisco Peaks rising to as high as 12,600 feet (about 3.84 km). Snow can be expected any time from October to April, so we always recommend that you come prepared when visiting northern Arizona during the winter and early spring months. A four-wheel drive or all-wheel drive vehicle is best. You can also purchase snow chains at a minimal cost.

Typically, all major highways are kept plowed. While the roads on the property at Arizona Mountain Inn & Cabins are unpaved, we keep them plowed and well maintained; however, ice will form if it’s cold. Please check the local forecast if you have any concerns.

Can I expect a refund for my reservation if I choose to cancel because I don’t feel comfortable driving in the snow?

Reservation refunds are issued in the form of a gift certificate, only if major highways (i.e., I-17 and I-40) are closed and impassable. This very rarely happens. Please keep in mind that if you make a winter-season reservation in northern Arizona, it does snow. So, if you do not feel comfortable driving in winter conditions, you may want to consider scheduling your visit at another time of year.

Are the cabins furnished?

Yes. In addition to beds and bureaus, each cabin has living room furniture, a dining table, and a full kitchen or kitchenette (which means a smaller stove and a half-size refrigerator) with a range, microwave, refrigerator and a wood-burning stove or fireplace. The kitchens are equipped with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, a toaster and coffee maker. Cabins also have all the linens and towels required for the maximum occupancy, as well as bath soap, toilet paper and dish soap.

Paper towels and shampoo are not provided.

Do all the cabins have fireplaces?

All of the cabins have wood-burning stoves. These woodstoves have glass fronts, so you’re able to see the fire just like a fireplace. Cabin 16 does have a built-in fireplace.

Is firewood provided?

Bagged firewood can be purchased in the office for $6.99 + tax per bag including Firestarter. Firewood can also be ordered at the time of your reservation and placed in your cabin for your arrival.

Typically, during the summer months, we are on burn restriction due to the often dry, high-desert conditions. Unfortunately, use of wood stoves is not allowed while on burn restriction, and outdoor fires are never allowed. The barbecues located outside the cabins are for charcoal only.

Are housekeeping services provided?

All cabins are thoroughly cleaned prior to your arrival. We do not enter your cabin after you have checked in unless you have a request. Towels and linens may be exchanged at the office during office hours at your convenience.

Do your cabins have TVs, telephones or Wi-Fi?

There are no telephones or TVs in the cabins. You’re here to rest, relax, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings and fantastic weather, but you’re more than welcome to bring your own TV. There is no cable connection in the cabins, so you would need to bring your own satellite dish or antennae. We do have property-wide, free Wi-Fi.

Do the cabins have air conditioning?

No, the cabins do not have air conditioning. This is very typical of the Flagstaff area due to the often comfortably warm daytime temperatures. And the nights always cool down nicely. We suggest keeping the windows closed on very warm days, which helps keep the cabins cool, then opening them in the evening. Fans are provided for your comfort in all the cabins.

Do you have laundry facilities?

There is one guest washer and dryer located in the main Inn for your convenience. The laundry area is open during regular office hours.

Can I bring a pet?

Your dogs are welcome! Please see our “Policies” section for details. Dogs are not allowed in Cabin #5, Loft 17 or the B&B. Some cats are allowed on an exception basis.

How many people can I bring?

Cabin sizes vary, accommodating anywhere from 2 to 16 people. The maximum occupancy for each cabin is set by the city code and the fire department.

We appreciate your accuracy when telling us the number of people in your party since rates are based on that number. Please include children in that count. While children under the age of two don’t count towards the nightly rate, they do count towards maximum occupancy.

Can I rent a cabin and invite friends to come and visit me or have a party?

Reservations are for registered guests only. We define registered guests as people included in the number of your party staying the night in the cabin or suite. We would like to ensure all our guests have the opportunity to enjoy all the amenities of our property including the peace and quiet. If every cabin had ‘visitors’ then it is unfair to our paying guests, as well as potentially creating noisy and disruptive situations. Unfortunately, we are not a public park where folks are able to come and take advantage of our unique property without making a reservation.

You are allowed to have a party if all the guests of that party have a reservation to stay in a cabin/suite. We just ask you to observe our Quiet Hours at 10:00p.m. It is always a good idea to inform management of gatherings/reunions/celebrations in advance to avoid any awkward situations.

Do you have accommodations for family reunions?

Yes, we do! In fact, we have many family reunions here every year. We also host business seminars, conferences, club meetings, scrapbook parties, baby and wedding showers, and a number of other group getaways. Please review the above FAQ regarding unregistered guests.

What types of activities are available?

There are all sorts of activities in which you can participate. We offer volleyball, horseshoes, ping pong, not to mention hiking and biking right from the property, which is surrounded on three sides by the Coconino National Forest.

The kids can enjoy our full-size playground with a merry-go-round, slide, swings and playhouse. We also have an abundantly supplied game closet with puzzles, toys and board games. And there are a wide variety of activities available within easy driving distance. Check out our “Activities” page for more information.

Is there a swimming pool?

We do not have a swimming pool on the grounds; however, indoor swimming is available at the Flagstaff Aquaplex. Day passes are available. For information about the Flagstaff Aquaplex, please call (928) 213-2300.

Is the fireplace the only heat source in the cabins?

No, each cabin also has a furnace or boiler heating with a thermostat. The wood-burning stoves (and fireplace in Cabin 16) are there for your enjoyment and extra coziness..

Are meals available in the Inn?

Breakfast is included for those guests staying in our B&B. We also offer breakfast to our guests with a party size of 2-3 depending on availability. Breakfast is $15.00 per person. Inquiries can be made upon check-in. All the cabins include kitchens/kitchenettes where you can prepare your own meals. There is a convenient, full-size grocery store just 1 mile from the Inn.

Is there a restaurant on the property?

No, there is no restaurant on the property, but we are conveniently located only a mile from town, where you’ll find a wide variety of restaurants—from chain restaurants and international cuisine to mom-and-pop eateries, fast food and fine dining. We are happy to provide you with our brochure of local recommendations!

Why is the B&B for adults only?

The B&B is for adults only due to guest requests. We have 17 wonderful cabins that are perfect for families with kids.
