My name’s Vanessa and I was born and raised in Arizona. My first language was Spanish as my parents immigrated from Mexico and became American citizens. In April it will be a year that I have been an employee at the Arizona Mountain Inn & Cabins. I’m so glad I am bilingual for many reasons. One reason is it has given me the ability to communicate with guests here at the Inn. I am glad I have the capacity to help Spanish-speaking guests make reservations and put them in the best accommodation that fits their needs. My favorite thing about working at the Inn is the fact that it’s family owned, because I always feel at home. I think one phrase that sums up my time here is becoming a “huge diverse family!”
I am a first generation student at Northern Arizona University. Currently, I am working on my bachelor’s degree in public health and then on to my master’s. Ultimately as a career I am still undecided on what I want to do exactly, because public health branches off to many careers. I think as long as I’m working on bettering the health of our community I’ll be content with whatever I decide to do! During my down time – a good book and the outdoors is all I need to enjoy a beautiful day here in Flagstaff.
